Shukai Fan obtained her Professional Master’s Degree in Agronomy and Seed Industry at China Agricultural University, majoring in synthetic biology under the supervision of Prof. Jinsheng Lai and co-supervision of Prof. Durval Dourado Neto. Her research focuses on crop molecular genomics, C4 photosynthetic pathways and targeted transcriptional regulation.

She integrated single-cell transcriptomics, bioinformatic modelling and functional reporter experiments to identify novel bundle sheath cell-specific promoters in maize (Zea mays L.). Her findings deliver reliable synthetic promoter tools and fundamental theoretical support for C4 photosynthesis engineering, aiming to boost photosynthetic efficiency in cereal crops.
